Moroccan Police Bust Online Sextortion Ring in Tétouan

A criminal gang specializing in sexual blackmail on social networks was dismantled in Tétouan by the judicial police elements of Tétouan.
It all started with a complaint filed by a victim who was deceived by one of the members of this network, through a fictitious account, reports the daily Assabah. He would have filmed her in compromising positions before blackmailing her repeatedly.
An investigation was opened and made it possible to identify the members of this criminal gang who threatened the victims with publishing their photos and videos on social networks if they did not pay up. According to the same daily, it is a 28-year-old individual from the city of Oued Zem, and a 23-year-old divorced woman from the city of Tétouan.
Furthermore, the police computer system database revealed that the suspects were wanted nationwide for the same reasons. As for the woman involved in this case, she had already been sentenced to one year in prison for fraud and sexual blackmail on the Internet.
The searches carried out at the homes of the accused made it possible to seize computers, warrants from different victims from several cities, mobile phones, a CD player and telephone SIM cards that the gang used to create accounts and pages on social networks with fictitious names. Pending the arrest of the other members of this criminal gang, who are actively being sought nationwide, the investigation continues.
