Moroccan Police Bust International Drug Ring, Seize 8 Tons Near Marrakech

Five individuals aged 27 to 66, already known to the justice system, were arrested by the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ). They would be part of a network active in international drug trafficking and the import and marketing of cocaine.
The BNPJ elements carried out two simultaneous operations in Tassoultante on the outskirts of Marrakech, and in the rural commune of Ait khssa Ait Lahcen Oussaid on the outskirts of Khénifra, resulting in the arrest of two of the five suspects. The three other accused were apprehended in the center of the city of Khénifra and in the Anfa region of Casablanca, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
In addition to the arrest carried out in the Tassoultante neighborhood in Marrakech, the police seized about 8.840 tons of cannabis resin, which were about to be packaged and stored in wooden cubes for transport to a European country. According to the DGSN, searches carried out in a second warehouse in Khénifra made it possible to seize equipment used for packaging and storing drugs for international smuggling. In Casablanca, the searches were just as fruitful, with 10 kg of cocaine, jewelry and luxury watches seized.
The five accused were taken into custody, pending the conclusions of the investigation opened to identify all the people involved in this case in order to proceed with their arrest.
