Moroccan Police Bust International Drug Ring, Arrest French Homicide Suspect

The judicial police of Casablanca thwarted, on Friday, an attempt to internationally traffic 8,990 kg of cannabis and arrested five individuals, including one wanted by France, for their alleged links to a criminal network operating in the international drug and psychotropic trafficking.
The arrest of the main suspect and his accomplices took place at a warehouse located in a rural area in Douar Moualin El Oued, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), adding that the seized drugs were stored and hidden in large marble blocks of about ten tons each, intended for export to an African country.
Two of the suspects are wanted nationally for their involvement in international drug trafficking cases and a third is the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the French judicial authorities in a case of voluntary homicide, the note points out.
The accused were placed in custody at the disposal of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, in order to determine the possible ramifications of this drug network, concludes the DGSN.
