Moroccan Police Bust Gang Luring Businessmen with Currency Scam

The members of this gang attracted their victims by using greed, according to Al Massae. They offered sums in foreign currency, in exchange for less than half of their values. A bargain for businessmen. 1,000 euros for 5,000 dirhams for example, they could not resist the temptation.
And that’s where this gang lured them to isolated places, farms, in order, they assured, to carry out the transactions away from prying eyes. Then came the kidnapping, with hoods and tear gas. The criminals then took care to empty their pockets, before sequestering them and then demanding ransoms in exchange for their release.
13 individuals are being prosecuted under arrest to answer these aforementioned charges. Significant sums in currency, belonging to them, were seized. They all confessed. And moreover, according to the same source, they were previously wanted for the same types of charges: Kidnapping, sequestration and ransom demand.
