Moroccan Police Arrest 7 in Illegal Abortion Ring, Seize Contraband Pills in Oujda

Seven individuals, including five women, suspected of being involved in the illegal practice of medical activities and the trafficking of pharmaceutical products that could endanger the lives of others, were arrested by the judicial police elements of Oujda.
Five of the suspects were arrested in flagrante delicto while attempting to perform an abortion on a woman with contraband pills, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN). According to a security source quoted by the MAP, one of the five women is the subject of a nationwide arrest warrant.
The research and investigations carried out as part of this case proved fruitful. In total, 3,050 tablets of two different types were seized, in the possession of a woman and her son, presumed to be involved in the trafficking of these contraband drugs for the benefit of clandestine abortion networks. The same source will specify that the victim was transferred to the local hospital to receive the necessary care.
Pending the elucidation of the ins and outs of this case, the defendants were subjected to the judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office.
