Illegal Abortion Tragedy in Morocco Leads to Multiple Arrests

Four people were arrested by elements of the national brigade of the judicial police of Inezgane, and brought before the public prosecutor for their involvement in an illegal abortion that turned into a tragedy.
These are two women, the doctor who owns the private clinic where the victim was transferred after the complications related to the traditional abortion, and another person. They risk heavy sentences for their involvement to varying degrees in this drama, indicates the General Directorate of National Security (DSGN) in a press release.
According to the same source, the investigations showed that the traditional abortion took place last Saturday, inside a house in the city of Inezgane, at the request of one of the suspects. The victim was then transported to the private clinic of the arrested doctor, who tried to treat her without managing to stop the bleeding. The young woman will be transported to the hospital in critical condition, but she will die immediately after her arrival.
An investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of her death and identify all the people involved. The three suspects were taken into custody, and the doctor is the subject of a judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office.
