Moroccan Plastic Surgeons Warn Against Illegal Cosmetic Procedures in Salons and Gyms

The National Union of Plastic Surgeons denounces and condemns "beauty centers and gyms that brazenly offer filler injections, botulinum toxin, PRP, mesotherapy or even laser hair removal." If in the past the situation went unnoticed, today it seems to be developing due to the number of establishments that put this type of practice on the same level as a haircut, a tattoo or a manicure, writes Aujourd’hui Le Maroc.

"We alert the authorities to the dangers, particularly related to injections carried out by unscrupulous charlatans without conscience, jeopardizing the safety of often young and innocent patients," the union fumes.

The surgeons say they are receiving more and more patients who are victims of these "wild" practices that violate the medical code of ethics. The sequelae they present range from skin necrosis to infections and blindness. "No one may perform any act of the medical profession, in any capacity whatsoever, unless he is registered on the table of the Order in accordance with the provisions of this law and those of Law No. 08-12, relating to the National Order of Physicians, in the sector in which he intends to practice."

The union calls on the state to be more rigorous in controlling the "real" or "fake" doctors who have recently come from Russia and Ukraine, who are not registered with the National Council of the Order of Physicians and who practice clandestinely and illegally in beauty salons, promoting the fashionable "Russian techniques" and attracting many innocent patients.

The plastic surgeons note that any illegal practice of surgery is punishable in accordance with the legislative and regulatory provisions in force and that they will stop at nothing to denounce all those who play with the lives of citizens.
