Moroccan PJD Leader Condemns Public Display of Homosexuality

During the first meeting of the national committee of the Party of Justice and Development (PJD), its secretary general, Abdelilah Benkirane said all the harm he thinks of homosexuals.
"Homosexuals have always existed in the world, in the Islamic world and in Morocco, but they were hidden, and if they declare themselves publicly, they will be responsible for it before the law," said Abdelilah Benkirane. While not ruling out the possibility of renewing certain convictions of the PJD, he says he does not tolerate homosexuals manifesting themselves publicly "the disobedience to God," reports Hespress. However, he assures that no one is trying to harm anyone [...] and that individual cases cannot be used to develop a general law. The question that bothers him is the following: "Are we going to treat homosexuals like Europe?"
In other words, the PJD "will not change its strategic convictions," including its attachment to its "Islamic reference framework" while making the effort for a "renewal," said Abdelilah Benkirane. He warns that the change of convictions will be done without him. "If you want to change the convictions, look for someone else" to lead the PJD, he insisted.
