Moroccan Pharmacist Arrested in Major Psychotropic Drug Trafficking Bust

After 20 years of practice, a 52-year-old pharmacist in Oujda has finally succumbed to the lure of easy money, becoming one of the largest suppliers of psychotropic tablets in Morocco.
The criminal network, composed of the pharmacist and his 31-year-old assistant who was in charge of taking orders, was finally dismantled thanks to information provided by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance.
Three individuals from Salé were arrested last Wednesday in flagrante delicto of possession of 8,580 psychotropic tablets. The suspects admitted to being supplied by the pharmacist from Oujda.
The search of the pharmacy, carried out by the elements of the Wilaya of Oujda, made it possible to seize 300 tablets of psychoactive drugs. For the moment, the mystery remains as to the pharmacist’s purchasing channels. The investigators suspect smuggling channels in Algeria.
