Moroccan Parents Protest Ongoing Teacher Strikes, Demand Education Reform

Following the walkout movements that have shaken the public school, parents of students expressed their discontent and called on all parties to work for the best interest of the students.

Moroccan parents of students are worried about the future of their children and they have made it known. In a statement, the National Federation of Parents’ Associations in Morocco condemned the "repetitive and incomprehensible" strikes paralyzing the education sector and depriving students of their right to education.

The representatives of the parents of students protested against the persistent waste of time due to the repeated strikes of contract teachers. In total, students have been deprived of 40 days of teaching. A situation that further aggravates "the crisis of a national education system that is already in very poor condition and has many flaws," regrets the federation.

The body says "sounding the alarm on the situation" and expresses its willingness to engage in any educational project that targets the student. It has called on "all official authorities in general and the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports in particular, to interact positively and ensure compensation for the lost school time."

The teachers must "cling to the spirit of national and educational responsibility," by finding advocacy mechanisms "that do not affect the learning time," it concluded.
