Moroccan Parents Protest French School’s Textbook Over Disputed Sahara Maps

In El Jadida, parents forced a French high school to remove a geopolitics textbook containing maps of Morocco without the Sahara.
It all started with an observation made by a first-year baccalaureate student in a French high school. She noticed that the geopolitics textbook used in her class contained 19 maps of Morocco without the Sahara. She shared this observation with her father, who mobilized the other Moroccan parents, reports Assabah. Together, they asked the geopolitics teacher, a woman of Spanish origin, to deprogram this geopolitics textbook. Their request did not receive the teacher’s approval.
They then decided to meet with the school principal to raise the problem. They reiterated their request for its deprogramming and prevailed. The textbook was simply removed.
