Moroccan Opposition Party Urges Peaceful Dialogue in Western Sahara Conflict

While all political parties and institutions in Morocco have publicly announced their support for the military operation conducted by the Royal Armed Forces in Guerguerat, the Annahj Adimocrati (The Diplomatic Path) party expresses several reservations.
The National Secretariat of the party preferred to remain neutral by calling to "avoid confrontation and conflict in the Western Sahara and to adopt the approach of peace and dialogue to spare the region and its population the horrors of war."
"The Diplomatic Path party calls for the adoption of international conventions and UN decisions on the Western Sahara, in order to reach a concerted solution that takes into account both the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and the objective of the unity of the Maghreb peoples," the statement said.
The Marxist formation has also firmly condemned the repressive policy adopted by the State against public freedoms, by "repressing popular movements and demonstrations." The Secretariat called for "the release of all political detainees, bloggers and journalists, and the end of judicial proceedings and summary trials against activists."
