Russia Calls for Diplomatic Solution to Western Sahara Conflict After Morocco’s Military Action

A few days after the operation carried out by the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) in Guerguerat, Russia has called for a ceasefire and calm through its Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The two heads of foreign diplomacy exchanged during a telephone conversation on the situation in the Guerguarate area of the Moroccan Sahara, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs published on Wednesday.
According to the same statement, Russia has also reiterated its willingness to resolve the issue of the Moroccan Sahara "exclusively by political and diplomatic means and on the basis of the applicable international law".
Nasser Bourita and Sergey Lavrov also discussed the relations between the two countries, especially the upcoming bilateral meeting between the two parties, scheduled for early December in Moscow and the holding of the 8th Intergovernmental Joint Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
