Moroccan Officials Inspect Working Conditions of Seasonal Farmworkers in Spain

A Moroccan consular delegation visited on Monday, in the Huelva region, one of the leading agricultural enterprises in the berry sector. This field visit aims to observe on site the reception and working conditions of the Moroccan seasonal workers recruited under the Moroccan-Spanish circular migration program.
Led by the Moroccan Consul General in Seville, Charif Cherkaoui, the delegation, which exchanged with the local authorities of the province of Huelva as well as the representative of a local agricultural union, insisted on the implementation of a support mechanism for Moroccan workers throughout the agricultural campaign as well as the respect of the terms of the employment contracts signed in Morocco.
In this regard, Ignacio Marquez Robles, development director at the "Surexport" agricultural enterprise, assured the Moroccan authorities that it has put in place an adapted logistics to facilitate the travel of Moroccan workers and make their living conditions favorable.
"We are very satisfied with the progress of the campaign, despite the delicate context in which we are evolving. Thanks to the collaboration of the Moroccan authorities, we were able to benefit from the resources we requested," he said.
At the end of this meeting, the consular delegation met the agricultural workers to remind them of their country’s support and the government’s efforts to improve the conditions of their stay in Spain.
