Moroccan Official Sentenced to 5 Years for Cocaine Trafficking, Faces Million-Dirham Fine

A municipal councilor in Imzouren, in the Al Hoceima region, was sentenced to 5 years in prison and the payment of 1,000 dirhams, for his involvement in cocaine trafficking and possession of drugs and psychotropic pills.
The Councilor and his accomplice were held responsible for the damage caused by their activity and sentenced to pay a joint fine of several million dirhams to the Customs Administration. The Criminal Chamber of the Court of First Instance of Al Hoceima also ordered the destruction of the confiscated goods, reports Dalil Rif.
His accomplice was sentenced to 7 years in prison for possession, consumption and trafficking of hard drugs, driving a vehicle without the consent of its owner, violence and refusal to comply with the orders of the law enforcement officers.
The media adds that all real estate, financial or other assets belonging to the accused, as well as their vehicles, have been seized by the justice system.
