Moroccan Official Arrested for Insurance Fraud After Vacation Photos Expose Fake Injury Claim

A municipal employee in Sefrou, previously convicted of theft, finds herself behind bars again. This time, she is accused of falsifying a medical certificate to receive an insurance indemnity after a work accident.
According to her statements, she would have fractured her foot by stumbling on the premises of the town hall. However, photos published on social media showed her on vacation at the same date, casting doubt on the veracity of her statement.
Following the discovery of these elements, the prosecutor ordered her arrest and referral to the correctional chamber of the Sefrou court. She will be tried, along with two other colleagues involved in the falsification of the medical certificate.
The accused, who risks heavy penalties for "presenting a medical certificate containing inaccurate facts," is not the only one to have to answer for her actions. Another official of the municipality was also prosecuted in this case, but the procedure against her was dismissed for lack of sufficient evidence.
