Moroccan Businessman Faked Death to Evade French Murder Sentence, Now Jailed in Morocco

Prosecuted by the Moroccan justice system for assault and battery resulting in death and use of a forged document, a Moroccan businessman was placed in pre-trial detention at the Tamesna prison. He had committed a homicide in France in 2011.
While his family thought they would allow him to escape French justice by organizing his fake funeral, sending a death certificate obtained from the civil registry service of the Hassan district of Rabat to the Paris Assize Court, a businessman residing in Agdal finds himself in prison in Tamesna, Morocco, reports Assabah. He is accused of having killed a Franco-Tunisian in France on March 26, 2011. Not believing in the defendant’s death, the Court sentenced him to 25 years in prison. In Morocco, his trial should soon open before the Criminal Chamber of the Court of First Instance in Rabat.
The events took place on March 26, 2011. According to the accused, a fight broke out between the victim, who was a drug trafficker, and him. The former, according to his statements, wanted to kidnap his girlfriend. The accused says he fled to take refuge with one of his acquaintances in the Paris suburbs, but the victim found his hideout. Another fight ensued. This time, it ended with a fatal knife blow. A version that is apparently far from the truth. It emerges from the complaint addressed to the Moroccan judicial and security authorities by their French counterparts that it was rather a dispute over a dog that took place on March 27, 2011. "The next day, the alleged perpetrator is said to have gone to the victim’s home to assault him and beat him with kicks before stabbing him fatally," it is reported.
After committing this homicide, the suspect fled to Morocco via the Tanger Med port. His mother, who is abroad, informed him that the victim’s parents were animated by a spirit of revenge. He also learned that his file had been referred to the Paris Assize Court. To escape French justice, he had then obtained a death certificate from the Hassan district of Rabat. In Morocco, the investigation carried out by the authorities revealed that the accused had bribed a police officer to find out if his name was being sought by the police.
