Moroccan Official in Agriculture Ministry Arrested on Rape Allegations

The former member of the February 20 Movement, Ali Bedar, also a member of the cabinet of the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Aziz Akhannouch, was placed in custody on Monday, February 10, 2020, in Casablanca. He is accused of raping a journalist.
After being heard by the investigators, Ali Bedar, suspected of rape and sexual assault on a young French freelance journalist living in Morocco, was placed in custody.
In September 2019, Ali Bedar allegedly assaulted and raped N. K. at her home, according to the plaintiff’s account. The latter had filed a complaint with the Casablanca prosecutor’s office. The journalist claims to have overwhelming evidence against her attacker.
On his Facebook page, the accused has denied the facts and claims to be the victim of a conspiracy.
