Moroccan national team: desperately seeking players

The Moroccan national football team is actively preparing for two friendly matches, against Angola and Mauritania, scheduled for next March. These matches will serve as a springboard for the next deadlines, including the qualifications for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in North America.
The national team is currently facing a series of injuries affecting key players. Sofiane Boufal, victim of an injury during the last Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), and Hakim Ziyech, lacking preparation, will not be able to participate in the next gatherings. The list of absentees is growing with the relapse of Noussair Mazraoui, who is suffering from a muscle tear in his left thigh.
Faced with these absences, Walid Regragui should call on new players to bolster his squad. The national coach has also multiplied trips to meet professional players and convince them to join the national team.
The two friendly matches will take place at the Grand Stade d’Agadir. Morocco will face Angola on Friday, March 22, 2024, followed by Mauritania on Tuesday, March 26.
The Moroccan team has a bitter memory of its participation in the 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire, where it was eliminated in the round of 16 by South Africa.
