Moroccan Mother in Belgium Alleges Decade of Racist Harassment by Neighbor
A mother tired of the racism she is a victim of is crying out in frustration. Hayat, a mother of three, claims to be a victim of racism and nuisance for more than 10 years. At her wit’s end, the resident of Sambreville in Belgium recounts what she experiences on a daily basis in her neighborhood.
"It screams, it really screams loudly," the mother tells RTL Info. "Already, yesterday, around 2 or 3 in the morning, it was still shouting outside. We had diarrhea on the door and urine. It’s all the time. When they start, they honk on purpose," explains the mother who feels persecuted by her neighbor, a restaurateur.
The worst moment, according to her, is the day she would have discovered a swastika on her car. "Me, I’m fed up, I’ve been living here for years. When I go to Morocco, I’m a foreigner and when I come back here, I’m a ’dirty foreigner’," a distraught Hayat confides.
She recounts that her life is a living hell and that time never manages to make her accept this type of verbal and psychological violence. "He told me: ’Get out, dirty foreigners, no one loves you here.’ That’s not right. Who does he think he is?" she says in tears.
