Family Seeks Justice in Unsolved Murder of Mohamed Harrouchy in Brussels

"I wish you to suffer, I wish you to rot on earth and that your families be destroyed with you, Ya Rabbi (O my God)!"

These are the words of Lyla Harrouchy who still cannot accept the situation her family has been going through for some time. Indeed, three months ago, the body of Mohamed Harrouchy was found in a ditch in Haren (Brussels). He had been kidnapped six months earlier in Schaerbeek. The victim’s sister explains that her family is living a daily drama while the murderers are free without being disturbed.

What really happened on Sunday, December 9, 2018 around 9:30 pm when Mohamed Harrouchy, 41 years old and father of two children, was kidnapped in his own car as he was leaving the ASBL café on Portaels Street in Schaerbeek? The answer to this question is still awaited while the deceased’s loved ones are living in martyrdom.

In the handling of the investigation into the disappearance and murder of Mohamed Harrouchy, the family denounces the lightness shown by the police. "We were not victims but the first suspects and we remained so until April. We were told: ’You will have to speak now!’" confides Lila, saddened that the pain and anxiety of her family were not taken seriously.

"Today, I want justice and truth to be done. I will live only for that. I have hatred for the murderers of our brother." Lila Harrouchy thinks that even if the system has abandoned them, they will continue the fight so that Mohamed Harrouchy, torn from the love of his loved ones, is restored to his human dignity. They only ask to know at least what happened, to know the murderers and that they pay before the competent courts for this crime perpetrated.
