Moroccan Minister Files Complaint Against Preacher for Calling Schools 'Places of Debauchery'

Moroccan preacher Redouane Benabdeslam is the subject of a complaint for having described the Moroccan school as a "brothel" and a "place of debauchery". Following these remarks, Chakib Benmoussa filed a complaint against the preacher for calling on parents not to enroll their children there.

According to the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia, the preacher’s statement was published on his Instagram account. He was responding to a father who had refused to enroll his children in school, explaining that he preferred the Koranic school. "Yes, he has the right to do so. And moreover, I agree with him 100%. Before, the school was a place of education and teaching. But today, this place has become the very source of debauchery and ignorance. You just have to show up in front of a school or high school to see that they have become brothels," Redouane Benabdeslam replied.

As if that were not enough, he added that "the majority of girls come out naked, the boys have the behavior of bums." Still on his Instagram account, he continues: "I say the majority so that no backward person comes to philosophize."

According to Al Ahdath Al Maghribia, the preacher from Tetouan found himself in the sights of many Internet users who accuse him of having attacked the public school by describing it as a brothel or a place of debauchery. "Do we need these creations? Is there anyone among us who listens to and follows the fatwas of this so-called fquih?" wondered an Internet user quoted by the daily. Another retorts: "Daesh still has unarmed followers among us."
