Moroccan Migrant's Body Repatriated as Algeria-Morocco Border Briefly Opens

The repatriation of the body of a Moroccan who died on the Algerian coast has exceptionally opened the land border between Algeria and Morocco this Wednesday, April 14. He died after attempting to illegally reach Europe.

The remains were transported to Oujda, the native city of the deceased, reports Al3omk. A Moroccan ambulance recovered the body of the deceased at the Zouj Bghal border post located between Morocco and Algeria. The victim was on an inflatable boat and was trying to reach Europe. But unfortunately, the boat exploded, leading to his death.

This is not the first time this border post, closed since 1994, has been exceptionally opened. Last February, the Algerian authorities had given the green light to their consulate in Oujda, Morocco, for the repatriation of the remains of a young Algerian who died in January.
