Moroccan Midfielder Adel Taarabt Extends Contract with Benfica After Career Resurgence

Moroccan international Adel Taarabt, who had long known the bench with Benfica, has become one of the pillars of the Benfica de Lisbon team since last year, with whom he has just extended his contract.
The Moroccan midfielder has re-signed with Benfica de Lisbon. His contract, in the form of an extension, is now valid until June 2022. Through perseverance and hard work, he managed last season to reintegrate the first team and regain the trust of the officials, in particular Bruno Lage, currently in charge on the Benfica bench and called in to take over the reins of the Portuguese champion at the beginning of the year.
This coach, who knows the Moroccan international’s qualities so well, deserves the credit for having brought him out of the shadows. Brought back from the reserve bench to take over the technical management of Benfica’s first team, he felt that the Moroccan midfielder, Adel Taarabt, should be given a second chance. "I saw Adel train every day with the intensity I love. If he trains like this, it’s because something has changed. If he has changed, we must give him his chance. We will see if we succeed and if he deserves to seize it to regain the thread of the career that his potential deserves," the technician had clarified at a press conference when he had decided to call on Adel Taarabt.
