Moroccan Men’s Beach Volleyball Team Secures Historic Olympic Berth
By winning Sunday, the final of the African qualifications for beach volleyball for the Olympic Games, against Mozambique (2-1) in Agadir, the Moroccan men’s national team secured its ticket for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
A first for Moroccan beach volleyball, which has thus snatched the sole African ticket. The tournament was played in Agadir. It started last Tuesday, with the participation of 15 countries divided into four groups.
In the women’s event, the final will be played between Nigeria and Kenya. The winner will also be automatically qualified for Tokyo 2020. The African qualifiers saw the participation of 24 teams in the men’s event and 20 in the women’s event.
