Moroccan Man Sentenced for Smuggling Undocumented Immigrant into Spain

The court of section VI of the provincial court of Ceuta sentenced on Thursday a man named MB to two years in prison for committing a crime against the rights of a foreign citizen.
The defendant, who had been in pre-trial detention since November 2019, admitted the facts. The man was therefore released on Thursday, benefiting from a suspended sentence for a period of five years during which he must not commit any offense.
The defendant, MB, was arrested while attempting to board a van bound for the peninsula on the night of November 28, which was also transporting an undocumented immigrant.
The prosecution had pronounced a sentence of 7 years in prison. But an agreement between the parties made it possible to reduce the sentence to two years, after it was established that the immigrant was not at risk for his life by traveling under such conditions.
The intervention carried out by members of the armed forces was carried out during a vehicle control operation leaving for Algeciras from the port.
