Moroccan Man Jailed for Revenge Porn and Extortion Against Ex-Fiancée
The correctional chamber of the court of first instance in Al Hoceima sentenced a man to one year in prison and a fine of 5,000 dirhams for defamation and blackmail against his ex-fiancée.
The individual had used intimate photos of the victim, obtained during their relationship, to threaten her and extort money from her.
In addition to the dissemination of these images without her consent, the accused made insults and threats of violence against the young woman. He was also found guilty of attempted extortion of funds by threatening to disclose compromising information.
Faced with these actions, the victim filed a complaint. The investigation conducted by the authorities led to the arrest and conviction of the man. In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered the confiscation of the mobile phone used to commit the offense. The accused will also have to pay 60,000 dirhams in damages to the victim.
