Moroccan Man Dies After Brutal Assault in Gran Canaria, Investigation Underway

A 25-year-old Moroccan died on July 29 at the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria hospital where he was admitted in critical condition after suffering a violent assault. The Civil Guard has opened an investigation to try to identify the perpetrator(s) of the attack.
The young man remained in an artificial coma for thirteen days before passing away. He was assaulted around midnight on July 16 near the Europa shopping center in Puerto Rico, in the municipality of Mogán in southern Gran Canaria. The victim was involved in a fight during which he received violent blows that caused him a serious head injury, according to sources consulted at La Provincia.
The investigating court of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has ordered the opening of an investigation to identify and apprehend the aggressor(s). The civil guards went to the scene of the attack in search of evidence. So far, no arrests have been made in this case. This is the third homicide recorded in the province of Las Palmas in less than a month. The alleged perpetrators of the two previous ones have been arrested.
