Moroccan Man Arrested in Spain for Using Counterfeit Euros Purchased on Amazon

The local police in Palma arrested a 20-year-old Moroccan on Saturday for using a fake 50-euro banknote in a shop.
After his arrest, the young man admitted to the agents that he had been using these counterfeit banknotes for several days, which he had recovered from an acquaintance in Son Gotleu who had acquired them on Amazon. He was unmasked when the cashier of the establishment where he paid for the bottle of water passed the fake banknote through the scanner, reports Ultima Hora.

The cashier then alerted the police, who quickly arrived on the scene. The young man, born in Palma but of Moroccan origin, tried to hide the rest of the counterfeit banknotes. In total, he had 640 euros in small denominations (10 bills of 50 euros and 7 of 20 euros) in his possession.
The young man also told the agents that two of his friends were also using these counterfeit banknotes to make purchases and that a group of Italians were also engaged in this practice. The national police have opened an investigation to dismantle this network of counterfeiters.
