Moroccan-Made Electric Scooters Hit Market with Affordable Prices and Eco-Friendly Features

The company e-Move Véhicules Company markets electric motorcycles fully assembled in Morocco. The battery with a range of 70 km to 140 km depending on the model, can be recharged from a standard power outlet. No noise, no smoke, no maintenance... the advantages are multiple.

These are "E-Move" brand motorcycles, the first sales outlets of which are opened in Fez, reports L’Économiste, adding that the prices range from 4,500 DH to 10,000 DH for the scooters. The cost of insurance is around 500 DH per year for the entire range.

These mopeds are fully assembled in an industrial plant located on a 6 ha site in Berrechid, set up with 100% Moroccan capital, the newspaper specifies.

According to Abdelaziz Alazrak, president of the company, a subsidiary of the Azzahra holding company, the investment is handicapped by the scarcity of qualified human resources. One of the solutions considered is to recruit among the graduates of the Automotive Trades Training Institute (Ifmia).

"Our approach is part of the national sustainable development strategy, the recommendations of which focus on the search for means of transport accessible to citizens. Thus, the motorcycles we manufacture are aimed in particular at high school students and students. Thanks to their affordable price, they will contribute to the opening up of remote and underserved regions," he said.

He added "we have an installed capacity of a hundred units per day. But for a start-up phase, production varies around forty per day. We employ about thirty employees, including engineers and technicians, and we plan to move to a hundred by the end of 2022."

The manager reassured about the certification of these vehicles, indicating that the e-Move motorcycles have been approved by the CNEH and the European accreditation laboratory Idiada on the basis of European and UN recommendations. This paves the way for exports. After Fez, the e-Move plant is in discussion with other dealers, particularly in Casablanca, Agadir, Beni Mellal, Meknes, Taza...
