Morocco to Launch First Electric Vehicle Battery Plant in Casablanca

Morocco will soon welcome its first industrial unit dedicated to the manufacture of electric battery components. It will be built by the Moroccan Battery Industry (MARIBAT) in Casablanca.
Through this project, the company intends to launch into the electric vehicle production chain, relying on the main mineral resources available in the kingdom, in particular cobalt, fluorite or phosphate, the main components of electric batteries, reports Challenge.
With a total financing of more than 75 million dirhams, the project will make Morocco one of the few countries capable of supplying such components to electric vehicle manufacturers.
In the long term, MARIBAT will be able to benefit from Morocco’s positioning, which is at the center of the supply chain, due to its trade agreements, which thus ensures it a very low cost of importing raw materials and exporting to markets.
It should be recalled that MARIBAT enjoys a good reputation and a solid partnership with the leader in battery manufacturing in Turkey (YIGIT AKU). Along with Almabat and Electra Batteries, MARIBAT is part of the top 3 in its sector in Morocco. Its current offer covers both the automotive, heavy goods vehicle, as well as the marine and photovoltaic installation segments.
