Moroccan Lawyers Scammed in Mediterranean Cruise Scheme, Agency Head Arrested

About twenty lawyers have seen their dream of a cruise through the Mediterranean evaporate. Arrived in Venice, the starting point of the excursion, as part of an organized trip, they discover that they have been the victims of a major scam by a travel agency.
Last Friday, the manager of a travel agency in Tetouan was arrested by the Judicial Police following a joint complaint filed by the 20 lawyers involved in the case. According to the daily Al Akhbar, she is being prosecuted for fraud and breach of trust.
In exchange for a total amount of 330,000 dirhams, paid in advance, the agency had promised the 20 lawyers a cruise that was to take them through several Mediterranean countries. The starting point of the excursion was scheduled in Venice, Italy.
Pending being brought before the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect has been placed in police custody at the disposal of the investigation opened by the police services, in order to determine the circumstances of the case. However, an amicable settlement is being negotiated between the two parties to avoid going to court.
