Moroccan Lawmaker Proposes Sex Education in Schools to Combat Online Risks

Omar Balafrej, deputy of the Democratic Left Front (FGD), has called for the inclusion of sex education in school textbooks.
This FGD deputy, concerned about the exposure of minors to pornographic content, has proposed this measure to the government, through his written question. "Several democratic countries are embarking on the path of child protection in the digital world, by limiting as much as possible access to sites whose content is inappropriate for children, or whose publications can have a negative impact on their psychological development," he said in his written question.
For Balafrej, the authorities are not involved enough in the child protection policy. He thus recommends the implementation of a "national program" that takes into account "the public media, national education and the family".
In this regard, he calls for the inclusion of "sex education as a separate theme in the school curriculum".
