Moroccan Lawmaker Jailed Over Alleged Attempted Murder at House Party

Facing serious charges, the young MP Yassine Radi, a member of the Constitutional Union (UC) party and former president of the commune of Sidi Slimane, has been placed in detention at the El Arjat prison in Salé.
Accused in particular of attempted murder, the 33-year-old parliamentarian would be involved in an incident that allegedly occurred during a private party at his home in Rabat, reports Alyaoum24. A 41-year-old man, also present at the party, would also be prosecuted for the same reasons.
The evening, which took a bad turn, took place at the young deputy’s residence in Rabat. Following a quarrel between two guests, a woman would have been pushed from the balcony of the deputy’s villa, causing serious injuries.
Yassine Radi was recently dismissed from his position as president of the municipal council of Sidi Slimane on the basis of a complaint from the governor of the city. His trial is scheduled to begin on June 7 before the Rabat Court of Appeal.
