Moroccan Lawmaker Faces Trial for Debauchery and Obstruction of Justice

MP Yassine Radi, a member of the Constitutional Union (UC) party, his businessman friend, two young women and a security guard appear before the Criminal Chamber of the Rabat court.
First hearing before the Criminal Chamber of the Rabat court this Wednesday. MP Yassine Radi is now being prosecuted for debauchery, concealment of evidence, obstruction of justice and false statements, reports the daily Assabah. Based on the results of the investigation, the investigating judge has dropped the charge of attempted murder. The UC elected official is also being prosecuted for failure to assist a person in danger. His businessman friend is now being prosecuted for premeditated assault leading to disability, the charge of attempted murder having been dropped. He is also being prosecuted for incitement to debauchery. The two young women and the security guard are also being prosecuted for the same reason. Three of the five individuals are being prosecuted in custody due to the seriousness of the acts they are accused of.
The case dates back to May 2023. A young woman was pushed from the balcony of the first floor of a villa belonging to the MP during a private party in Rabat. She escaped with serious injuries. After the incident, she was taken to the Cheikh Zaid hospital by her friend. The young woman fractured her spine and has been using a wheelchair since then. While the accused were trying to "smother the case by promising the victim to take care of her hospital expenses" and offering her a sum of money, her mother brought the case to justice. An investigation was opened, but the main accused desperately tried to conceal the evidence of this incident. A vain attempt. Technical analyses on their phones betrayed them.
For the moment, Yassine Radi retains his seat in Parliament. The outcome of the trial will determine whether or not the MP’s seat should be declared vacant.
