Moroccan Lawmaker Faces Charges for Illegal Construction Project

The parliamentarian and president of the municipality of Dchira-Jihadia, Ramadan Bouachra, is being prosecuted for urban planning violation. This is the decision of the wali of the Souss-Massa region.
The PJD elected official is accused of having carried out a residential and tourist subdivision in violation of the law on a plot of land, reports Al Akhbar. The public authorities had in the meantime ordered the suspension of the excavation work and the seizure of the machinery and bulldozers used on the construction site due to construction defects and violations of the urban planning law.
The municipal council president, also a member of the PJD, subsequently issued a new authorization to Mr. Bouachran after the expiration of the legal three-year period required for the construction of the said subdivision. However, according to the law, in the event of exceeding this deadline, the promoter is required to file a new file and follow the legal procedures in force.
However, the parliamentarian violated this procedure by trampling on the joint circular recently issued by the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Housing. The construction work for the said residential and tourist subdivision has therefore continued.
The wali of the Souss-Massa region is now prosecuting the PJD parliamentarian for urban planning violations following a decision by the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit.
