Lawmaker Calls for Audit of Covid-19 Fund Beneficiaries, Questions Industry Allocations

PPS group deputy Rachid Hamouni accused certain companies of having enriched themselves from the fund dedicated to the fight against coronavirus. Thus, the parliamentarian demands that all beneficiaries be known and audited.
The daily Al Massae reports that in the presence of the Minister of Health, Khalid Aït Taleb, the deputy said he was surprised by the allocation of the largest part of this budget to the Ministry of Industry, much more than to the department most concerned by the fight which only received 5% of the Coronavirus Management Fund.
"If the Health Department spent the 2 billion dirhams to buy medical equipment, equipment and medicines, we don’t know where this windfall of money that was granted to the Ministry of Industry went," indignant Rachid Hamouni.
Industry Minister Moulay Hafid Elalamy remained silent on the budget allocated to his department, as well as the contracts awarded to some companies to acquire equipment and materials for the manufacture of protective masks, the parliamentarian is outraged. According to him, if the manufacture of masks was necessary in the fight against the pandemic, this cannot be brandished as an important achievement.
On behalf of Minister Moulay Hafid Elalamy, PPS group deputy Rachid Hamouni wants to know about the status, operationality, effectiveness and fate of the artificial respirators that have cost so much to the Fund.
Deputy Rachid Hamouni also wants to be enlightened on the contract awards, which according to him, were characterized by serious violations, at 90%, measures the deputy of the PPS parliamentary group.
In short, the heads of several sectors in the government are exploiting this epidemiological crisis to their advantage. This is why he insists on the publication of the list, the amounts and the audit of those who have benefited from the budget of the Covid-19 Management Fund.
