Moroccan Lawmaker Demands Update on Domestic Ventilator Production Amid Rising COVID Deaths

Faced with the increase in deaths recorded in recent days, a deputy has questioned the Minister of Industry and Trade about the 100% Moroccan ventilator.
In a written question addressed to Minister Moulay Hafid Elamy, PJD deputy Mohamed Benjelloul estimated that the lack of artificial ventilators in intensive care units is the cause of this upsurge in deaths.
In this regard, the parliamentarian invited the minister to react on the subject of these locally produced ventilators. In the same correspondence, he reminded him of the statements made in early April last, concerning the start of industrial-scale production of these ventilators in these two industrial units with the possibility of exporting part of the production.
The first batches of 200 devices, however, ready to be delivered, have not been received due to the administrative burden at the Ministry of Health. Pending this reception, the managers of this project are desperate while a scientific committee of 10 resuscitators has authenticated their device.
