Moroccan Labor Minister Urges Workplace Safety Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

Economic development implies full respect for health security and the dignity of employees. This is what the Moroccan Minister of Labor and Professional Integration, Mohamed Amkraz, particularly concerned by these times of health crisis, indicated.

The government, employers and employees must put the prevention of occupational risks at the top of their concerns, while taking into account the changes that have occurred in the world of work, said the Minister of Labor and Professional Integration, Mohamed Amkraz, during the launch of the Regional Awareness Days on occupational risk assessment techniques, under the theme "occupational risk assessment, a pillar for prevention in the workplace: the case of Covid-19", organized by the Ministry of Labor in collaboration with the National Institute of Working Conditions (INCVT).

Given the current situation marked by the health crisis, it is essential to create a healthy environment that is concerned with the health security of all workers, said Mr. Amkraz, stressing that it is essential to strengthen regulations and legislation to improve health security in the workplace.

The director of the INCVT, Abderrazak Laâlej, for his part, hammered that the organization of these days represents the materialization of the provisions of the partnership agreement between the ministry and the Institute, in order to participate in the effort to fight the pandemic in the workplace. Among the INCVT’s other missions, he highlighted advice to public authorities, awareness-raising, education and training for occupational risk prevention actors.

This was an opportunity for experts to provide answers to questions about health and safety at work and ways to promote the culture of occupational risk prevention at the company level.
