Moroccan Job Ad Sparks Outrage Over Headscarf Restriction

An international school in Morocco is looking for a "non-veiled occupational nurse", with Casablanca as the place of assignment. The job offer, posted on LinkedIn by a recruiter, caused an uproar on the social network.
This publication provoked a wave of criticism from Internet users who denounced the discriminatory nature of this announcement. "Scandalous and illegal announcement. You are exposing yourself to legal action," reacted an Internet user. "Since when can a foreign company established in Morocco dictate to a Moroccan woman what she must wear?" commented another.
This job offer infringes on the religious and individual freedoms recognized by the Moroccan Constitution, some users of the professional network have stated. For others, it violates the Moroccan Labor Code, which prohibits any discrimination based on physical appearance, religious beliefs or clothing, as well as the international conventions prohibiting any discrimination in employment, to which Morocco is a party.
Many Internet users called for strengthening controls and taking strict measures against employers who impose discriminatory hiring criteria. Women’s rights activists also protested against this publication, calling on the authorities to impose sanctions on these employers who continue to violate the texts in force on hiring in Morocco.
