Moroccan Outrage Erupts Over Queer Network Launch at Rabat Sociology Forum

The announcement by the International Sociological Association (ISA) of the holding of a founding meeting of the Queer Network (QISA), on the sidelines of the 5th World Sociology Forum to be held from July 6 to 11 at the Mohammed V University in Rabat, is causing a wave of indignation.
Moroccans are up in arms against the promotion of homosexuality. They expressed their indignation after the announcement by the International Sociological Association (ISA) of the holding of a founding meeting of the Queer Network (QISA), on the sidelines of the 5th World Sociology Forum. Participants in the forum were invited to the inaugural meeting of the network on Monday. However, the exact location of the meeting was not specified. The ISA plans to provide more information directly to interested persons.
In its announcement message, the ISA stated that the QISA network "is a new initiative aimed at connecting members with diverse sexual orientations within its association through research committees, generations." The ISA described the network as "a shared space for collaboration, mutual support and academic inclusion." Moroccans do not see it that way. They believe that this initiative goes against their cultural and religious values.
This outcry comes after a controversy over the participation of Israeli researchers in the forum.
