Moroccan Instagram Influencer Sentenced to Prison for Misleading Practices

The Versailles (Yvelines) court has imposed a prison sentence and a fine on Moroccan influencer Rym Renom, followed by 1.8 million people on Instagram.
The verdict of Rym Renom’s trial, which took place on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, is now known. Prosecuted for misleading commercial practices on social networks, the Moroccan influencer was sentenced in absentia to 1 year in prison and a 25,000 euro fine. The Versailles (Yvelines) court also ordered the seizure of a sum of 40,000 euros. She was accused of acts that took place in the course of 2022 and 2023. At the time, the reality TV candidate in La Villa des Cœurs Brisés was residing in the Yvelines, near Feucherolles.
These facts can be summarized as: promotion of subcutaneous injections of substances by doctors who would not have had the quality, highlighting of certain products without specifying that she was paid to do so, promotion of skin care. The 34-year-old influencer would have claimed that she "was unaware" of some of the obligations and prohibitions related to the publications targeted by the prosecution. A statement that was collected by the Departmental Directorate for the Protection of Populations (DDPP), it is reported.
Rym Renom has so far refused to comment on the verdict or on a possible appeal of the judgment, which would allow her to regain the presumption of innocence. She would be living between Bali and Dubai.
