Moroccan Human Rights Minister Reportedly Resigns from Ruling Party Amid Health Concerns

After months of absence, the Minister of State in charge of Human Rights and Relations with Parliament, Mustapha Ramid is said to have submitted his resignation from the PJD to Saad-Eddine El Othmani.
Has Ramid really slammed the door of the PJD? This is at least what the site Alyaoum 24 reports, stating that he left the lamp party to protest against his "marginalization" by the head of government on certain political files.
The site specifies that his public appearances are rare, both in the context of his governmental and partisan activities.
Health reasons are also cited to justify the resignation, especially since the minister had "successfully" undergone a surgical operation on February 27 last. In addition, according to the same source, there are "disagreements" with El Othmani. This leads some observers to say that this departure was "inevitable".
However, the site recalls that the minister had played a decisive role in aborting the project of the 3rd term of Abdelilah Benkirane at the head of the PJD. This commitment allowed Saad-Eddine El Othmani to be elected secretary general of the party at the 8th congress, from December 2017 in Bouznika.
Moreover, Mustapha Ramid is considering retiring from politics in order "to resume his work as a lawyer and his activism as a human rights defender," the same source confides.
For now, no official communication has been made.
