Moroccan Human Rights Minister Undergoes Successful Kidney Surgery, Resigns

Mustapha Ramid, Minister of State in charge of Human Rights and Relations with Parliament, underwent a successful kidney surgery on Saturday, February 27, at the Mohammed VI International University Hospital in Casablanca.
Mustapha Ramid was admitted to the Mohammed VI International University Hospital in Casablanca where he was successfully operated on, reports Le360. This is the third surgical operation the minister has undergone. Two years ago, he had undergone "heavy" stomach surgery. Infected with the coronavirus, he recently underwent partial liver removal.
It is precisely because of his deteriorating health that he submitted his resignation letter to the Head of Government on Friday, February 26. "Given my state of health and my inability to continue to assume the responsibilities entrusted to me, I submit my resignation as a member of the government, in the hope of submitting it to King Mohammed VI," Mustapha Ramid explained in a letter addressed to Saâdeddine El Othmani.
According to Article 47 of the Constitution, only the sovereign is empowered to terminate the functions of a member of the government or to refuse his resignation.
