Moroccan Health Minister Grilled Over $30,000 Monthly Office Rent Amid Budget Scrutiny

The Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb, was invited on Tuesday to explain the exorbitant expenses incurred by his department for the rental of the new building dedicated to the human resources department.
During the discussion of the sectoral budget of the Ministry of Health in parliament, the deputy of the Socialist Party, Ibtissam Merrass, questioned the interest of the new headquarters, whose monthly rent was estimated, according to her statements, at 300,000 dirhams.
Outraged, the deputy wondered if the current financial situation is favorable for committing the State in an annual expenditure of 3.6 million dirhams.
Ibtissam Merras also called on the Minister of Health to reveal the name of the company awarded the contract for the redevelopment of the former headquarters of the human resources department.
