Moroccan Football Federation to Allow Criminal Charges for Club Mismanagement

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) plans to amend before the end of April a provision that would allow criminal proceedings to be brought against a club president accused of misappropriating the club’s finances.
An amendment expected to be validated by the FRMF General Assembly scheduled for April 21 will enshrine the possibility of prosecution against club presidents if they are accused of financial mismanagement of the clubs they run, reports the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
These prosecutions also target former club leaders if they are accused of poor governance during their tenure, the newspaper said.
This amendment states that "the president of the sports association is personally responsible, during the duration of his term, for the commitments made by the association, including financial commitments. This responsibility continues even after the end of his term as president." The chairman of the board of directors and the general manager of the sports company are also held responsible according to the amendment presented by the federation’s executive committee.
