Moroccan Football Chief to Host CAF Assembly, Sparks Presidency Speculation

The next CAF General Assembly will take place in Morocco and it will be Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, who will be in charge. The question is whether the latter really has the ambition to run for the presidency of the African football body.
The president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, has managed to convince his Mauritanian counterpart to let the CAF General Assembly be held in Morocco. Thus, the work of the CAF General Assembly will take place on March 12 in the Kingdom. This conclave was previously scheduled to be held in Nouakchott.
In this perspective, the question that crosses people’s minds is whether Fouzi intends to take advantage of it to run for the presidency of the Confederation of African Football.
It should be noted that it has been three years since the current CAF president, Ahmad Ahmad, has been at the head of the African football body. The race is on again for the CAF presidency. Ahmad Ahmad has also launched on Friday the opening of applications for his succession.
However, for the moment, the Malagasy remains his main favorite for his own succession. However, nothing prevents Fouzi Lekjaa, who is the perfect outsider, from running, not to mention the former president of the Egyptian Football Federation Hani Abou Rida, who has confided to his entourage his intention to also run for the CAF presidency, according to Al Massae.
