Moroccan Food Giant Gopag Expands with $20.8 Million Investment in New Cheese and Juice Plants

Food manufacturer Gopag inaugurated two new industrial units dedicated to the production of processed cheese and juices in Taroudant on Friday.
At a total cost of 197 million MAD (20.8 million dollars), the agri-food industrial units will generate 380 direct jobs and 2,200 indirect jobs, the company said, adding that the investment aims to meet the needs of domestic markets and export high-value agri-food products produced locally to international markets.
Present at the inauguration ceremony, Minister of Commerce and Industry Ryad Mezzour explained that the agri-food manufacturing unit is a step in the right direction for Morocco, as the country aims to maintain national food security and strengthen industrial sovereignty.
In addition, Copag has signed an agreement with the Moroccan Ministry of Commerce and Industry, paving the way for a future industrial unit for white meat production with a budget of 108 million dirhams (11.4 million dollars), according to official sources.
