Moroccan Figs Take Center Stage at 25th Annual Festival in French Village

Morocco, the world’s third largest producer of figs, is the guest of honor at the 25th edition of Jours de figues, an event that takes place every year in the medieval village of Vézénobres.
After two years of pause due to the Covid-19 pandemic and a weather alert, Vézénobres celebrates the fig. Lise Fossat, from the Maison de la figue, welcomes her Moroccan guests. "Every year, we invite a Mediterranean country and, thus, we weave links," she explains to Midi Libre. On the menu of the 25th edition of Jours de figues, meetings, in the village temple, of crafts, fig-derived products and dried figs.
The fresh figs are also on display. "This year, the weather has been particular. When it was very hot this summer, they stopped developing. And when it was less hot, they started again and they all arrived at once," explains Lise Fossat.
Started on Saturday, the 25th edition of Jours de figues, ends this Sunday, September 18.
