Moroccan Father in France Sentenced for Years of Child Abuse

H.B. was tried for violence against his son, reports La Dépêche du Midi. The teenager began to suffer abuse after his parents separated. At the time, he was barely 4 years old. "The gentleman has shown particular demands regarding the education of his son. He demanded that he rub his back when he took a shower. There were also verbal abuse, insults and surprising educational methods. For example, he forced him to carry large quantities of wood and if he dropped any, he would get beaten and his father forbade him to cry," says the president of the criminal court. Other cases of violence: a blow with the butt of a gun.

"His son seemed to concentrate all his aggressiveness. One day, he killed a cat with a golf club, forbidding his son to scream, while telling him that it was his fault, because he had left the door open and the animal had entered the house. The expert assessments show that the young man is psychologically affected," continues the president of the criminal court.

Described as someone "fanciful, an adept of conspiracy theories," the father flatly denies the accusations of physical violence against his son. "These are not acts of violence, it is a demonstration. There were no punishments, just little blows," he says. The butt of the gun?: "that did not happen, if he had a bruise, it was not because of me," replies the defendant. What about the cat killed? "It came into the house and then I found it dead," he assures.

The file is "doubly worrying, estimates the prosecutor. The defendant is absent, the victims too, this creates a feeling of unease and this gentleman is currently in an irregular situation on French territory." He requested six months in prison. The court did not follow the prosecutor’s requisitions. The verdict is in: the violent father was sentenced to 8 months in prison with a suspended sentence.
